recording news

hey everyone! this is kelsey.

i thought that i would try to keep you guys up to date with the progress of the ep as it inches towards completion! as of right now, i have finished four new songs. i'm thinking about re-recording the songs on my myspace too and adding them to the ep, since those songs are probably what you're more familiar with. 

i don't really know how to describe the ep, or the recording process in general. it's extremely hard to look and listen to it objectively right now.... i think that's normal. i feel like it is sort of a reflection of where i am now, and that is probably all that matters. it's always been hard to navigate the disconnect between what i want to sound like and what i actually sound like. i'm not sure if i'll ever grow into what i visualize myself as. and maybe that's okay....i think it's just an age thing.

anyway, i'm trying not to take it TOO seriously. it's just an ep, right?

now that some of the recording work is done (fingers crossed!) i get to start working on the details. my favorite! visual art has always been really important to me. i'm going to get someone to create some cd artwork.....i have it narrowed down to three of my favorites: patrick jilbert, keren richter, and hannah stouffer. these artists are all pretty incredible, and it's going to be difficult for me just to decide on one. i'm also trying to come up with a concept that will be appropriate for the album. i want something that will give it a sense of cohesiveness, without being cheesy. it's hard for me to think big picture...

also, my website is all done! marky (of the felix culpa) did an excellent job with it and we're hoping to have it up and running soon! we're having server problems, but we're working on it.

oh yeah! when the magical day arrives when the ep is finished, it's going to be available (through tunecore) on itunes. hopefully this will make it much, much easier for you folks to buy it! seriously, please buy it. i need your money so i can buy things. and so i can keep playing music. 

anyway, this is what is going on. i know my myspace is very quiet right now, but i promise that new and exciting things are happening!
